Followed all the instructions and didn't find any residue like the packaging said might be left inside. I wiped the inside of my washer anyway. My machine never smelled, but I did notice a black residue left from either the dirt or color that came off my clothing collecting on the rubber parts of the inside of the machine. After removing it with a mr. clean magic eraser super (a whole eraser and a half) I plan to use this every so often to clean my machine.
Sometimes you don't know why to expect. Lots of twists and turns. You think you know but then you are thrown a curve ball. Definitely worth reading!
Maybe I needed to get the bigger version of this. I only felt it when it was turned up to the highest setting and even then, didn't find any relief from it. It was a waste of money for me, but it was worth a try.

Very useful, versatile, and comfortable. My wife and I both use it for on the road business meetings, and we recently used it as our day bag for two weeks in Paris. A pleasure to use. Small enough that you don't overload; large enough to carry essentials and more. Fits 11" pad, not 14" pad. Nicely compartmented and structured. The extra-small was really too small to be versatile, and we returned it.
